October 6 University, located in Egypt, is a growing institution known for its strong academic programs and modern infrastructure, particularly within its Faculty of Medicine. While the exact establishment year of the university is not publicly specified in the available data, it has steadily built a reputation for delivering quality medical education that aligns with both national and international standards. The university is recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities in Egypt, which ensures that its MBBS program meets rigorous academic benchmarks. For Indian students aiming to practice medicine in India after graduation, this recognition is essential, as it supports eligibility for the National Medical Commission (NMC) screening test, now known as NExT (National Exit Test), starting in 2026.

Academic Reputation and Program Offerings

The Faculty of Medicine at October 6 University offers a comprehensive MBBS program designed to equip students with strong theoretical knowledge and practical clinical skills. The curriculum is structured to meet global medical education standards and is taught entirely in English, making it accessible for Indian students. In addition to MBBS, the university offers programs in dentistry and pharmacy, reflecting its commitment to multidisciplinary health sciences education. Other faculties include engineering, applied health sciences, media and mass communication, and economics, contributing to a diverse academic environment.

The medical program emphasizes hands-on training through access to advanced medical facilities and experienced faculty members. Students benefit from clinical rotations and practical exposure, which are critical for success in the NExT exam—a requirement for all medical graduates, whether from India or abroad, who wish to practice in India starting in 2026.

Why Indian Students Choose October 6 University

Indian students are increasingly considering MBBS abroad due to the high competition and limited seats in Indian medical colleges. In 2026, India offers approximately 1,29,000 MBBS seats across 820 colleges, but private institutions in India can charge upwards of ₹50–80 lakhs for the entire course. In contrast, studying MBBS at October 6 University presents a more affordable option, with total program costs (tuition and living expenses) estimated to range between ₹15 lakhs and ₹35 lakhs for the full duration—significantly lower than most private medical colleges in India.

Additionally, the university adheres to NMC guidelines for foreign medical graduates, including the requirement of a 12-month internship completed at the same institution. Indian students must also qualify NEET-UG before joining, which is mandatory for obtaining eligibility to appear for NExT/FMGE and practicing in India.

Admission and Support for Indian Students

The admission process for 2026 is streamlined and student-friendly. Indian applicants must submit their NEET scorecard, academic transcripts, and other required documents. The university provides support with visa processing, travel arrangements, and post-arrival assistance, ensuring a smooth transition. While specific data on the number of total students or Indian enrollment is not available, the university’s growing popularity among international students indicates a welcoming and inclusive academic culture.

, October 6 University offers a credible, cost-effective, and NMC-compliant pathway for Indian students seeking a global medical education with the goal of returning to practice in India. Its focus on clinical training, English-medium instruction, and alignment with 2026 NMC regulations makes it a practical choice for aspiring doctors.
