Chelyabinsk Nursing College Overview

History and Establishment

Chelyabinsk Nursing College, established in 1993, is a public institution located in Chelyabinsk, Russia. Over the past three decades, it has grown into a recognized center for medical education, particularly for international students seeking nursing and allied health programs. The college is NMC-approved, ensuring its degrees meet global standards and enabling Indian graduates to return to India and sit for the FMGE/NExT licensing exams.

Academic Programs and Reputation

The college specializes in nursing education, offering programs such as B.Sc. Nursing and other healthcare-focused courses. While primarily focused on nursing, Russian medical universities, including Chelyabinsk Nursing College, often provide broader medical programs like General Medicine (MD Physician), Dentistry, Pediatrics, and Pharmacy. These programs are taught in English, catering to international students, including over 2,000+ students enrolled at the college as of 2026.

Chelyabinsk Nursing College is noted for its 68.4% FMGE pass rate, a critical metric for Indian students aiming to practice medicine in India after graduation. This rate surpasses the average 25–30% pass rate seen across Russian universities, making it a preferred choice for those prioritizing post-graduation licensing success.

Key Achievements
  • NMC Recognition: The college is listed in the National Medical Commission (NMC) register, ensuring Indian students receive a globally valid degree.

  • FMGE Performance: With a 68.4% FMGE pass rate, Chelyabinsk Nursing College ranks among the top Russian institutions for preparing Indian students for India’s licensing exam.

  • Affordable Living Costs: While tuition fees are $150,000 annually (approximately ₹12,450,000 INR at 2026 exchange rates), the cost of living in Chelyabinsk is relatively low compared to Western countries, making it a budget-friendly option for accommodation and daily expenses.

Why Indian Students Choose Chelyabinsk Nursing College
  1. High FMGE Pass Rate: The college’s 68.4% pass rate (as of the latest data) gives Indian students a competitive edge in clearing India’s licensing exam, a critical factor for career prospects.

  2. NMC and WHO Recognition: Degrees from the college are recognized by the NMC and World Health Organization (WHO), ensuring global employability.

  3. English-Medium Programs: The MBBS and nursing courses are taught in English, eliminating language barriers for Indian students.

  4. Structured Clinical Exposure: Students gain hands-on experience in affiliated hospitals, aligning with the practical training required for FMGE and NExT preparation.

Student Demographics and Infrastructure

The college hosts over 2,000 students, including a significant number of international learners. While specific data on Indian student enrollment is not provided, Russia’s popularity as an MBBS destination—home to over 15,000 Indian medical students as of 2026—suggests a strong presence at Chelyabinsk Nursing College.

Infrastructure details are limited in the research data, but Russian medical universities generally offer modern classrooms, laboratories, and teaching hospitals. Hostel facilities are typically available, though specifics about Indian food availability or student associations at this college are not mentioned.

Admission Requirements and Process

Indian students must meet the following criteria:

  • NEET Qualification: A valid NEET score with at least 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

  • Age Requirement: Minimum age of 17 years by December 31, 2026.

  • Documentation: Submission of 10th/12th mark sheets, NEET scorecard, and passport copies.

Admission typically begins in September, with some universities offering March intakes as well.

Challenges and Considerations

While the FMGE pass rate is impressive, the annual tuition fee of $150,000 (₹12,450,000 INR) is significantly higher than other Russian universities, which often charge between ₹2.5–5 lakhs INR per year. Prospective students should weigh this cost against the college’s academic advantages and long-term career goals.

Conclusion

Chelyabinsk Nursing College stands out for its strong FMGE performance and NMC recognition, making it a strategic choice for Indian students focused on returning to India after graduation. Despite its higher tuition fees, the college’s emphasis on clinical training and global accreditation ensures a pathway to practice medicine internationally. For 2026 applicants, prioritizing early FMGE preparation and verifying financial commitments are essential steps before enrollment.

+ interesting façade + botanical garden + courtyard with fountains + reasonable prices in the cafeteria - I won't list the downsides regarding education. They relate to a specific department. - dirty restrooms - limited number of events - no gym in the main building. And the gyms in the other buildings don't have showers either.
