Caucasus International University: A Premier Destination for MBBS in Georgia

Caucasus International University (CIU), located in Tbilisi, Georgia, is a rapidly growing private medical university established in 2013. Known for its English-medium MBBS program, modern infrastructure, and global recognition, CIU has become a preferred choice for Indian students seeking affordable, high-quality medical education abroad. The university is accredited by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India, ensuring graduates can practice medicine globally, including India, after clearing the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE).

Academic Structure and Key Programs

The MBBS program at Caucasus International University spans 6 years, including a 1-year internship. Classes commence annually in September, with admissions opening months in advance. The curriculum is delivered entirely in English, eliminating the need for IELTS/TOEFL proficiency tests for Indian students.

Key Features of the MBBS Program:

  • Eligibility: Completion of intermediate (10+2) with at least 50% marks.

  • No Entrance Exams: Admission is based on academic records, though Indian students must clear NEET for eligibility.

  • Global Recognition: Degrees are approved by WHO, NMC, and other international medical bodies.

  • Clinical Training: Students gain hands-on experience through affiliated hospitals and modern research labs.

CIU also offers postgraduate and doctoral programs, with partnerships like the Grenoble Graduate School of Business (France) for student exchange initiatives.

Affordability and Cost of Study

Caucasus International University is known for its budget-friendly fee structure, making it accessible to Indian students.

Estimated MBBS Fees (2026):

ComponentCost (USD)Cost (INR)
Annual Tuition Fee2,400₹2,16,000
Total Program Cost14,400₹12,96,000

Note: Additional expenses include hostel accommodation, food, insurance, and personal costs. The cost of living in Tbilisi is significantly lower than in Western countries, averaging ₹15,000–₹20,000 per month.

Campus Facilities and Student Support

CIU prioritizes a safe, multicultural environment, with over 360 credits allocated for clinical and theoretical training. Key facilities include:

  • Hostel Accommodation: On-campus housing with Indian food availability.

  • Indian Community: Active Indian student associations and cultural events.

  • Modern Infrastructure: Advanced laboratories, libraries, and sports facilities.

  • Career Support: Placement assistance in healthcare, IT, and finance sectors through internships and job fairs.

Scholarships are available for high-achieving students, covering up to 50% of tuition fees for postgraduate studies.

Why Indian Students Choose CIU

  1. NMC Recognition: Graduates can return to India and appear for the FMGE without additional requirements.

  2. No Language Barriers: English-taught programs ensure smooth learning.

  3. Simplified Admission: Direct admission without competitive entrance tests (except NEET).

  4. Cultural Comfort: Availability of Indian cuisine and a growing Indian student community.

  5. Global Exposure: Opportunities for international research and exchange programs.

Challenges and Considerations

  • FMGE Requirements: Indian students must pass the FMGE to practice in India, though CIU’s curriculum aligns with global standards.

  • Fee Hikes: Annual tuition fees may increase slightly, so students should check the official university guidelines before enrollment.

Conclusion

Caucasus International University stands out as a student-centric institution with a focus on practical training, affordability, and global recognition. For Indian aspirants seeking an MBBS degree in Europe, CIU offers a balanced blend of academic rigor, cultural inclusivity, and career-oriented support, all within a budget-friendly framework. With its WHO/NMC approval and growing reputation, it remains a top choice for medical education in Georgia in 2026.

The University staff makes sure that each student feels welcome and comfortable at the Campus and during Lectures and Seminars. Plenty of foreign students which is nice to see and know that all the students here have one aim. The Medical staff are all very good and teach in good English, they make sure that you understand the subject and if you don’t they are more than happy to go the extra mile to explain it to you so you understand. Deans office is busy, but the problem is not the staffs problems it’s the students not learning to line up in an orderly manner and the blame goes to the Deans office for being slow, but in reality it’s the students who don’t respect the staffs work and time. I have never had a problem with any part of the University. Keep working Hard CIU
